National Professional Engineers Day
|
Licensing of professional engineers in the US began in 1907, when Clarence Johnston, the state engineer of Wyoming, presented a bill to the Wyoming legislature that would require registration for those representing themselves to the public as an engineer or land surveyor. The bill was later enacted, making the state the first in the US to register engineers and land surveyors. On August 8, 1907, Charles Bellamy of Wyoming received the first professional engineering license. Professional Engineers Day is held the first Wednesday in August to mark that occasion. Every year on the first Wednesday of August, we honor the dedication, innovation, and impact of licensed professional engineers across the country. National Professional Engineers Day highlights the vital role engineers play in shaping our world—from designing infrastructure and advancing technology to ensuring public safety and sustainability. Today, we celebrate their achievements and commitment to excellence, recognizing the difference they make in our communities and industries every day. |

This meeting provides an opportunity for the membership to hear from local water and flood control organizations about the years activities and accomplishments. The Middle Rio Grande Flood Control Association was created in 1947 as an organization of businesses and individuals interested in and supportive of responsible flood control in the Middle Rio Grande Valley. In its early days, the association actively promoted and supported major flood control programs of the federal agencies, especially the dams and levees on the Rio Grande. Later, the association supported state and local efforts, resulting in the formation of such agencies as AMAFCA and SSCAFCA, as well as the construction of local flood control projects. |
Campbell Ranch: Edgewood P&Z Public Hearing
|
On November 21, 2024 Sheldon Greer attended the Campbell Ranch P&Z Public hearing where this proposed development in the east mountains could bring more than 4,000 new homes. Read Sheldon's quote in KRQE News 13 or watch him on Youtube: “No part of this application would allow any development to occur, no roadways to be built, no infrastructure to be installed, no houses to be constructed. We’re certainly creating, or we’re simply creating large parcels that might help facilitate that in the future,” said Sheldon Greer, a project manager with Community Design Solutions, representing Campbell Farming Corp." Battle continues for East Mountain residents as Campbell Ranch development moves forward |
